It, according to MSF is to use the kill switch on the right handle-bar. What Max posted was good too since it is easy to leave the keys in and the lights on if you use the kill switch. I support using the key and removing immediately to keep from leaving the keys in the bike. I'm not sure if I believe in the idea of lowering the kickstand in gear, which will kill the engine, or not. Find out the best way for yourself and see, I guess.
